Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Loki season 2 episode 5The penultimate episode of Loki season 2 introduced a new superpower to Tom Hiddleston's God Of Mischief that could be the MCU's most powerful yet. But Loki probably won't use that new superpower, which seems to give him unrivaled power over the MCU timeline, to undo the most tragic part of his MCU backstory.
In effect, Loki has access to an unprecedented power loophole that would allow him to jump back in time to the point of his own death in Endgame and stop Thanos from choking him. Theoretically, Loki could undo all the events of the Infinity Saga by traveling back to before the Battle of New York and stopping himself allying with Thanos in the first place.
But even more pertinently, Loki season 2 episode 5 introduces a narrative pay-off that's been 12 years in the making and which would be an even bigger betrayal. When confronted by Sylvie about his motivation to save the TVA and the multiverse, Loki finally accepts that there is still an element of selfishness to his plan. While he's certainly driven by altruism and wanting to stop the coming disaster of Kang's Multiversal War , Loki's true motivation is his new family.
Loki Won't Undo His Death, Because He'll Lose What He Wants To Live For If Loki goes back to the start of Avengers: Endgame and somehow stops Thanos from killing him, he would be destroying his chance of a happy ending with his friends. He has finally found his people, all united by their shared trauma without having to try and force dominion over them.
