During the 2008 financial crisis my wife and I went into the 401k by 1/3 to pay off our mortgage. It was the best thing we have ever done. Household cash flow has been great ever since. Love how the media portrays workers as 'raiders' of the stock market...while the rich rob the 401k market system blind... A pension is guaranteed retirement income. A 401k is you giving away your money to rich people to gamble with, for a fee. Guess why pensions are gone. but the wealthy are hoping you raid your 401 so they can buy up the stocks while they are cheap. When this is over, they will have even more of the wealth and the rest will be even worse off.
