Imagine thinking no one is talking about toxic masculinity or that such condemnations are new. Feminists have a tendency of being blind to the progress brought about through their contributions. They think we're still in the 1800s.

It was a good ad and they just got a ton of free media. Plus they’ve positioned themselves as a forward-thinking brand. Their agency, Grey, should be proud of this work. AdweekChat

Toxic collectivizing feminism. Alpha males will fight back. Sick ad.

I can’t wait to buy the new Gillette tampon for men. It’s going to revolutionize maleness. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

I can’t believe Gillette made a commercial telling men to act like decent human beings and set good examples for young boys. This is such a disgrace. I’m never buying a Gillette razor again! 🙄

They still test on animals. If they want to be 'responsible', they need to knock that off.

Spend less time pretending to know a company’s marketing strategy better than they do themselves and more time editing things like “There are those who really like the ad really like the campaign” out of your hit piece. Thanks.

It's not toxic. It's clumsy. Calling it 'toxic' is just silly and co-optive, and makes the writer sound either like he's offended by toxic masculinity as a concept or at the ad bringing it up.

its just common sense…they toss money out the window...

Gillette made a critical misguided error - their sales and brand will forever suffer as a result

You’re way off base. Gillette is playing the long game, recognizing that it may alienate a portion of its customer base to gain good will and loyalty with the rest of it. They’re for-profit but they’re also pledging millions to nonprofits, which undercuts part of your argument.

You want to market to Millennials...hire Millennials.

Simple solution switch to Schick. Better razors anyway GilletteAd Gillette

Oh Forbes. Just wait and see if there's any change in sales. There's a lot of loud mouths, but they don't represent the market.

'Gillette concludes that concludes by calling for and showing images of men holding other men accountable and emphasizing that the boys of today will be the men of tomorrow.'

Gillette I'm selling this slogan for $10m USD. Gillette the best anyone can get. 🎶

Like Nike did? maybe Gillette doesn't want toxic pseudo alpha male types as their target market anymore. can't say i blame em. cheers to them for encouraging a new definition of manhood. Ah! But of course, P&G has been a moral exemplum since....fucking never! How many of their products are over priced and unnecessary and bully women into buying them? Tampons cost how much?

This article provides a historical perspective on Gillette's 'Best a Man Can Get' campaign and explains what has gone wrong with the updated version. Proctor and Gamble stock is up this morning because market movers think any publicity is good publicity, and since woman make many household purchasing decisions they assume this will have a positive affect. This is a product of cultural isolation. It assumes males are bad people by default, and generalizing anyone, male or female, without knowing them or their character...is stupid. I am not a 'toxic male', my parents raised me right. The men railing against this ad - commenting about 'stereotypes' and screaming NOT ALL MEN are toxic. The Gillette ad, however, is not.

'Super Bowl every day' — why ad agencies need to score a touchdown with regular commercialsIf ad-supported TV companies don’t change their ways, they risk the slow and steady erosion of the entire $79,000,000,000 business. Like PBS manages to do!: ‘10 percent in prime time and an attempt to make ad breaks more appealing by running just two ads during a break and longer breaks at the beginning and end of shows.’ Good! ‘greed is not that good’! I thought TV channels that ran Ads were free? Good strategy then to alienate half your audience with Leftist propaganda. Our TV used to be on NBC from 7am til 11:30pm every day. Regular viewers of Today, Nightly News as well as local news. Until 2016. Couldn't stand the bias. Today, we watch 2 hrs each Weds. That's it.

Gillette knew that its new #MeToo ad would prompt backlash. Here's why the company still went ahead with it.The ad is part of a broader brand repositioning, and turns Gillette's 30-year-old tagline 'The Best A Man Can Get' on its head. BIPrime You guys want me to pay to read? Funny. BIPrime Utter bollocks. They went with it because the 'backlash' would be worth the soul-selling marketing ploy due to the sales. That. Is. All.
