Only two in five gamers think that developers do enough to accommodate gamers with mental and physical disabilities

Only two in five gamers think that developers do enough to accommodate gamers with mental and physical disabilities–and the community continues to be the worst affected by online toxicity, according to a new study., Opinium Research surveyed of over 1,000 U.S.-based gamers over the age of 18, of which over one-third had a long-standing physical or mental impairment, condition, illness, or disability that affects their day-to-day activities.

According to this section of gamers, their experience with games continues to be affected by poor accessibility options, specifically those relating to subtitles, the ability to change controls and their sensitivity, as well as lower-contrast settings. Respondents also criticized blinking introduction screens, which can cause seizures; the inability to adjust accessibility settings prior to starting a game; an outright lack of subtitle options; and games where viewing options are restricted to first person only, as these can cause motion sickness.

Toxic gamers, too, continue to be a thorn in the side of those with disabilities–especially if those enduring them are female. Over half of female gamers with disabilities say their pastime is often poisoned by fellow players, compared to 47% of those without; nearly half have been “told inappropriate things by men” while playing video games .

Why Is Montague Street Perpetually Drab? The houses near Montague Street are among the most expensive places to live in New York City. But the street itself is oddly, intractably unglamorous. LysandraO reports LysandraO It all started with a word to try something new. Montague has to be one of the strangest little streets in the whole of NYC - an utterly charmless dead zone of mediocre restaurants, uninspired shops and not much else. Perplexing.
