Methane should be given priority on the agenda at the COP26 climate summit this November, in order to reduce near-term climate change

That is important, and frightening, but hardly shocking. The aim of letting the world warm no more than 1.5°C, agreed on in Paris six years ago, is one to which many countries, notably the small-island states for which sea-level rise is an existential threat, are deeply committed. But many observers believe it stringent almost to the point of impossibility.report, though, may come as news to many. If carbon-dioxide emissions were the only means by which humans were changing the climate, 1.

Crutzen’s intervention spurred renewed interest in the idea of intentionally interfering with incoming sunlight, a possibility known as “solar geoengineering”. It is an interest of which theis wary. Solar geoengineering has no role in the scenarios the panel uses to talk about future climates. As a result its new report, like its predecessors, discusses the idea only in broad terms. In doing so it notes, correctly, that the idea has significant drawbacks.

A more palatable approach to offsetting the diminishing effects of sulphate pollution, enthusiastically endorsed by the, is to redouble efforts to reduce emissions of another climate-changing by-product of human civilisation. Methane is a more powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, but one which lasts in the atmosphere for only about a decade. Reduce methane emissions and you soon reduce methane levels; reduce methane levels and you reduce global warming.

Human produces incomparably less greenhouse gases than oceans, volcanoes, vegetation. Ppls' share is ab5%. Volcs emit much more CO2 into the atmosphere than all the power plants in the world. One puny Icelandic Eyjafjallajokull in 4 days 'started' as much as all ppl cdn't in 5 ys

climatechange 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Methane is suspected to be more harmful than CO2 in terms of warming.

Indeed! Only now we begin to understand why our mothers were so critical and disdainful of our fathers.

Those are nuclear cooling towers. They don't emit carbon dioxide. Only steam. Come on...

The tweet and the headline directly conflict each other.

Is this Tweet from the 19th century? This has even known for over 100 years. Why are we still debating it?

No it should not stop avoiding the fact that fossil fuels accounts to 74% of GHG. While 10% is methane which is so small changing it won’t do much. Let’s stop killing animals and start growing cultured meat cause your not going to turn everyone into a vegan that will fail.

Why Hybrid Film Releasing Won’t Disappear Anytime SoonOn Monday, AMC Theatres reached an agreement with Warner Bros. to exhibit its films exclusively in cinemas for a shortened 45-day window beginning with the 2022 slate, echoing an identical agreemen… The sooner the better. Movie theaters will never recapture big audiences. It has more to do with technology than covid. Why Doesn’t the New ‘Gossip Girl’ Feel Fun?Even as glossy, escapist television holds the last of our psyches together, we must acknowledge the pitfalls awaiting shows like GossipGirl—that aspire for more, yet fall short. The problem with this article is to understand the writer is not longer the age audience for this Gossip Girl version. My 20 years old daughter liked a lot the show because of the topics involved on the show. The same ones as this article describes as “so serious”… so VF: What? Idk but the og was really good but I personally like this one better. It was so boring and that's me being nice
