now hopes to use that victory to remove teenage migrants without family in the United States from government shelters to live with sponsors.
“There’s children 15- or 16-years-old who ran way or were abused, neglected and threatened by gangs, and thousands of children who have no one in the U.S. and no one to sponsor them,” de Anda told NBC News. The teen, who arrived at the border unaccompanied by a parent or guardian, died at a Texas hospital after several days of intensive care at a children’s hospital. His death is under investigation and U.S. officials have released few other details.
In Byron's case, the Office of Refugee Resettlement had refused to release the boy to the Sewells because they were not relatives and did not know Byron before he arrived in the country. Byron's family had asked that their son be released to the Sewells.requires that sponsors be parents, legal guardians, immediate relatives or other adults who had a relationship with the family before the child came to the U.S.
The second is long-term foster care. In those cases, the children are turned over to a fostering agency. The agency, licensed by the state, finds a parent who has been vetted and ORR pays for the long-term care. The long-term care often is what is used for a child whose parent was abusive, de Anda said.
She said ORR has a very limited number of foster care placements and they usually are reserved for kids in"tender" years, are demonstrating a high degree of trauma or those with disabilities.
Why only focus on immigrants from Mexico not the ones from Asia, Canada, Cuba, Africa, India, Europe, the people on expired visas. WTF if the racist on here were standing behind 2 white people speaking French, they wouldn't give it a 2nd thought
Fence jumpers are not immigrants. Say it all together boys and girls 'illegal alien.'
What is wrong with this country? How have we let the xenophobes run the show? What have we become? Let me tell you. A bunch of selfish scape boaters looking for any excuse to turn ingroups of people. Sad but true.
the USA allows on average a million people into this country LEGALLY. get in line and no cuts.
why can't their own damn Government take care of them! Don't we send enough damn money. Send them back
better way would be work with agencies/countries use firm suggestions in helping Central America become place where all citizens can live. it is apparent monies being sent these countries not used for the poor unwilling to fight for their rights they flee.
So let me guess We should use our hard earned tax dollars on lawyers to help them? How about follow the law to even get in? I know odd idea right..,.smh
Seems like if they follow the procedures to seek asylum in the US, they would have this explained to them. Of course, if they are brought in thru tunnels and in semi trailers, then they wouldn't know. Thank you, for helping out those poor felons.
Not all immigrant teenagers need to worry about lawyers and asylum loopholes. You know, the ones who actually follow the law and immigrate legally to a sovereign nation.
Well just put them on a bus hit them back home to their parents having their parents fill out the proper paperwork and try to get citizenship the right way
Should be in jail or deported for breaking the law
Illegal aliens are not 'immigrants' Stop conflating the two distinct groups
