One expert compared passing major legislation these days to a 'high-wire act.'

The $3.5 trillion infrastructure bill has been cut to nearly $2 trillion. Some concessions on major priorities of the package include child tax credit, housing assistance and climate provisions. In January, when President Joe Biden took office and Democrats secured both chambers of Congress, millions of Americans had high hopes that the laundry list of causes touted on the campaign trail would become reality.

"We're still allowing 'Big Lie' rhetoric to reign supreme when you have real issues happening out here, like the fact that there have been millions of dollars put towards this pandemic recovery yet you still have thousands of people homeless right now," she added. "It's a tale of two cities," she told ABC News."On the one hand, this Congress has impressive crisis response, and on the other, a stalemate on issues that aren't necessarily connected to that crisis."Shortly after Barack Obama was elected in 2008, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said the"single most important thing" for Republicans was to make him a one-term president.

She said the current stalemate over raising the debt ceiling provides the perfect example of McConnell's strategy. "We expect our elected officials to deal with complicated issues like that," said Jeremy Gelman, who wrote the book,"Losing to Win: Why Congressional Majorities Play Politics Instead of Make Laws.""But making it seem like your opponents don't have it together, that's good politics.

For four months under Obama, Democrats did have 60 votes in the Senate and, therefore, total control of Congress. It was during that slim window that Obamacare passed in the Senate with all 60 Democratic votes. "It's the reality we're seeing now," said Lee."They get elected in these separate states and districts, and they differ in their political priorities and coloration, so it's very hard for them to get on the same page.

"They also know that those are popular policies with their voters. They need to have solutions that they can offer in the future, and they think it's probably politically valuable to show off the Republicans as being obstructionists," he said. What makes it especially difficult to govern in the current Congress are the razor-thin margins in both chambers.

Let’s NOT forget that the multitude of crises we’re experiencing is the culmonating results of the corrupt, criminalistic, CON serving CONservative GOP Greedy Opportunistic Politicians having been in charge for the past few decades, ie: covid19, infestructure, inflation, etc!

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.” “When bad men combine, the good must associate else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.” by Edmund Burk Vote true blue 🇺🇸! Save 🇺🇸 democracy!

let’s not forget that The Great Depression of 1929 & Recession of 2008, happened under Republican leadership, which we’ve repeated, again! And As the adage goes, doomed are those who don’t learn from history, of repeating it! We can’t afford to forget & repeat!

Thank you!

Manchin and sinema are holding up progress

Highly partisan bills designed to eliminate a State's ability to govern itself is the reason Democrats can't pass these bills.

Because the Republicans and 2 greedy progressives agree to disagree just to disagree! It's a total conspiracy to ensure that all fails, no matter who pays, as long as it's not them!! This country is soooooo divided and they are leading the division! 🙈🙉🙊

I'd liken it to the escape artist act on America's Got Talent: Extreme that got smashed between two cars because act mistimed & then he fell 40 feet. He's on life support & hanging onto life by a thread. Sums up our government, nothing is working right & it's trying to kill us!

Hahahah! When one party cannot agree, perhaps the legislation is bad! Democrats control all three branches of government!

I'm sick of things not getting done in Washington! Democrats are trying to get stuff done republicans wanna make them look bad and hold on to power that's all they want but we gotta let Joe Biden lead And get something done we also need to get cinema and mansion out !

Because even some democrats have common sense and see what this is going to do to the coutry.

Why Kyrsten Sinema Is at the Center of Democrats’ Tax-Hike FightSen. Kyrsten Sinema has emerged as one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington, with her concerns about the size and funding for Democrats’ social policy and climate package dictating what the party will be able to pass She isn’t necessary for her intelligence or patriotism she just happens to be taking up a space that ‘s marked number 50. No she made a deal with billionaire Republican donors to destroy Joe Biden’s agenda in exchange for millions. And without Sinema and Manchin’s vote Republicans will continue their scorched earth strategy to dismantle our Democracy. Her and Manchin are nothing more than Republicans who conned Democrats into supporting their elections. Democrats need to run candidates against both of them.
