Never before has the college football coaching carousel spun so fast so early: 11 coaches in the top tier of Division I have already gotten the boot by mid-November

It didn’t matter that Virginia Tech won its game last Saturday by more than four touchdowns or that the football team was within one win of bowl eligibility. Athletic director Whit Babcock had already made a million-dollar decision. It was time to fire the coach.

Right at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Virginia Tech announced that it had parted ways with coach Justin Fuente, having negotiated his termination fee down to $8.75 million from $10 million. If he had waited about another month, Babcock could have made the move for $7.5 million under the contract extension Fuente signed in 2018.

After 11 weeks of testimony and many delays, prosecution rests case against Elizabeth HolmesAfter 11 weeks of testimony, federal prosecutors rest their case against Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO and founder of failed blood testing startup Theranos WTF is this This had all the appearances of a massive fraud and cover-up. Elizabeth Holmes is now playing the ingénue albeit one with a voice deeper than James Earl Jones. She has that sociopathic quality of admitting no personal responsibility. I expect a conviction and a stiff sentence.
