season two has satisfied fans with another stunning ensemble performance - including Meryl Streep's standout debut as the chilling mother-in-law from hell - but it's thanks to the show's impressive and in-demand cast that it may not return for another series.
According to HBO programming chief Casey Bloys, it's"unrealistic" that the show's stars - including Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz and Shailene Woodley - would be able to team up again due to their busy work schedules. "The reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood. I just think it's not realistic," Bloys told"I love this group of people - I would do anything with them. We have deals with some of them - Nicole is doing her next show [] with us. Look, if they all came to me and said, 'We worked out all of our schedules!' - then sure. But I just don't think it's realistic.
The series comes to an end next week. Fans already think Streep will be nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy for her role as bereaved mother Mary Louise. Kravitz has also won praise from viewers for her powerful performance and emotionally charged storyline in season 2.
