I don’t think will happen for This Is Us. This story was super personal to Dan Fogelman and he told the story the way he wanted to tell it and ended it the way he wanted to end it. And I think it might do a disservice to the show if someone other than Dan especially tried to put something together. But I think that the story has been told, and I can’t even envision what that spinoff would look like, so I don’t think it’s going to happen.
If the show were to be revived, the This Is Us cast would need to return, as the characters they portrayed were a crucial part of what made the series such a success. However, by continuing their stories, the show would threaten to ruin the fitting endings that each of the characters got by the end of the original series. This would jeopardize the memory of the original story, as it would make the finale not an ending, but rather a stepping stone to another show.
