Why 2.7 million Americans still get Netflix DVDs in the mail

Remember when Netflix used to be a DVD-by-mail company? Well, for 2.7 million subscribers in the US, it still is.

The familiar red envelopes have been arriving in customers' mailboxes since 1998 and helped earn the company a healthy $212 million profit last year. Why are so many people still using this old-school service in the age of streaming? There are a number of reasons. Because I’m too lazy to cancel my DVD plan. I’ve had the same three DVDs on my nightstand for 7 years. I haven’t even watched them. I just can’t bring myself to mail them back. I’m scared to actually count ho much money I’ve wasted because of that

Netflix can lose all the broadcasting rights they have but they'd still have the right to rent out the same show/movie in physical media :p
