Here's why 2.7 million Americans still get Netflix DVDs in the mail

Remember when Netflix used to be a DVD-by-mail company? Well, for 2.7 million subscribers in the US, it still is.

The familiar red envelopes have been arriving in customers' mailboxes since 1998 and helped earn the company a healthy $212 million profit last year. Why are so many people still using this old-school service in the age of streaming? There are a number of reasons. Rural America struggles with broadband accessStreaming Netflix video requires a lot of bandwidth -- so much so that Netflix consumes 15% of all US internet bandwidth, according to a 2018 industry report.

The DC Dems/non capitalists and their alleged media, are doing Putins works. Putin's disciples are maintaining a government paralysis,a blandishment of democracy, total American chaos. Who is paying the price, we the American taxpayers. The commies are in control.

Spoiler alert... digital divide. Not everyone has high speed internet.

Because I’m too lazy to cancel my DVD plan. I’ve had the same three DVDs on my nightstand for 7 years. I haven’t even watched them. I just can’t bring myself to mail them back. I’m scared to actually count ho much money I’ve wasted because of that

I am proudly one of the 2.7m. I'm not ashamed! Of the six reasons listed in this article I align with five of them.

I get mine from the library....for FREE!

Netflix can lose all the broadcasting rights they have but they'd still have the right to rent out the same show/movie in physical media :p

The cheapest way to copy movies to your HDD.

We should all be after the TRUTH and never should a media like CNN make up LIE after LIE to get ratings.. Never been happier to see CNN'S ratings bottom out from LIE'S. Weather your left or right always SEEK the truth and CNN is not it!

people still get mail?

DonDesawade they mean you?

I actually did not know Netflix still offered this service. I haven’t had a DVD player in years.

You forgot to start the headline off with BREAKING:

I have gig ethernet. I haven't seen a dvd player in years. But if that's what they like, meh

Hmmmmmmmm! Looks like an important story CNN ---- can't find anything else?

2.7 million Americans still have a DVD player?

Why Pete Buttigieg's $7 million cash haul is even more impressive than it seemsIf you told Pete Buttigieg on January 1 that by the end of March his presidential campaign would have raised $7 million, he likely would have laughed. And that would have been the appropriate reaction, given how few people even knew the name of the mayor of South Bend, Indiana -- much less that he was one of the many Democrats running for president in 2020.
