The IRS said it was fixing many of its pandemic-related problems and delays. But, for the third year in a row, it is still behind in processing millions of returns.

We are more than halfway through 2022, and millions of people are still waiting for their tax refunds.

One very frustrated taxpayer wants to know what's behind the delay, and how long those affected may have to wait. Rick Owens dreamed of building a $2,000 above-ground pool for his family this summer with the money he would get from his tax refund. So, he mailed his paper return in on February 5, but five months later, he had received nothing.

"We hadn't heard anything," he said,"and my wife checked on the computer, but they had no information there."He called the IRS's toll-free number but said,"that was impossible. We couldn't talk to anybody."As of July 1, the IRS says it had a backlog of 10 million unprocessed paper returns this year. Tax experts say paper returns add a few weeks to the process in a normal year, but not the four, five, or even six-month delays some people are seeing now.

Department of Public Safety Officers help family of ducks off I-10Instead of asking why the chicken crossed the road, some DPS officers found themselves asking why a family of ducks were crossing Interstate 10 this morning. Good thing those weren't school children. To follow the pig home? And it looks like a raised overpass too. How'd they get up there? Pick them up and put them somewhere safe!

Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s decision to tie property taxes to inflation may result in mammoth bills next yearAs Mayor Lori Lightfoot kicks off her election-year budget push during the worst inflation crisis in at least two generations, she has to decide how strong her political will really is. How's that crime going Chicago.. Ya got a Mayor with 24/7 armed guards...DO YOU Chicago would be wise to elect someone else. She’s been the worst Chicago mayor in generations. This is shoddy yellow journalism. So the annual increase may go up from $18 to less than $60 for the average home. Hardly mammoth. I expect kookiness from your Ed board but it has bled in to the newsroom. Take a refresher in journalistic ethics.
