, Houston’s second album, had officially reached diamond status, a certification once given to records that sold 10 million copies but now takes into account digital streaming as well.Whitney HoustonArtists like Garth Brooks, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin have also had at least three diamond albums, but Houston is theduring a ceremony next week alongside other nineties music icons like The Notorious B.I.G. and Depeche Mode.

Houston, a New Jersey native, was one of the best-selling singers of all time, and her music has continued to break records even after heron YouTube, becoming only the fourth single from the entire decade to capture 10-digit viewership numbers on the platform. The song was originally written and recorded by country star Dolly Parton in the seventies, but Parton herself said Houston’s take on the track was one of the highlights of her own career during an appearance onearlier this month.
