That is something the mainstream media fail to report during the shutdown in their desperate attempt to paint trump as the villain.

realjohnbacon '..It's great for everybody. In three weeks, we may be playing this game of chicken again, but at least everyone is getting a paycheck.' Not everyone. Ask the federal contractors if they are getting back pay.

To bad we didn't see everyone outraged over the jobs lost in the oilfield when Obama tightened regulations. It destroyed MANY livlihoods where a change in careers resulted. Many people at their retirement age, had to work because they lost all benefits.Where's the blame on Obama?

Which is why no one with a functioning brain felt sorry for them, despite your efforts.

Kool...

Will they be paid for shutdown days in retro ?

I understood that the TWA Stewardesses Union organized a strike which scared Mitch and the POTUS into making a deal to avoid a domino effect of Nationwide strikes and walkouts. If so this is a major part of the story and should have been included in this piece. Just sayin'...

Paid vacation.

I would of loved having a month long PAID vacation

But contractors are screwed!

sounds like a paid vacation for a job nobody missed.

I hope they repay the food banks

This FederalWorkers family is doing 2 things... 1. The money we conserved during TrumpShutdown WILL NOT be spent and will enhance our emergency fund! 2. We will not use Republican or GOP owned business if an alternative exists! Especially small Conservative business!

Even with shutdown deal, federal workers probably won’t see back pay until next weekEmployees who have gone without pay during the 35-day partial government shutdown likely will have to wait well into next week to see a paycheck. ... anecdotal but I received all my back pay today... except the lump sum put me in a higher tax bracket temporarily... and my wife will receive her back pay tomorrow.

Back pay for furloughed federal employees to include add-onsEmployees furloughed from shuttered agencies will receive both basic pay and any special allowances they normally would have received, once their agencies reopen. Meanwhile, those agencies are told to be 'accommodating' to employees still working but without pay. Why can’t they just pass standalone bills? Why does everything have to be a christmastree? Jam tomorrow😜 Shutdowns are such a waste of money. We back pay (as we should) but we are paying for work not being done. Nobody seems to consider all the money going out the window. The GOP only cares when a Democrat sits in the oval office.
