WASHINGTON - White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Monday walked back on his earlier remarks that the U.S.-China trade pact was “over”, stoking volatility in markets already frazzled by the coronavirus pandemic.
“It was at a time when they had already sent hundreds of thousands of people to this country to spread that virus, and it was just minutes after wheels up when that plane took off that we began to hear about this pandemic,” Navarro said.“He consistently lies and has no honesty and trustworthiness,” foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told reporters at a regular press briefing.
They have since recovered much of the lost ground after Navarro, one of the most outspoken critics of China among Trump’s senior advisers, issued a statement saying his comments “have been taken wildly out of context”. U.S.-China relations have reached their lowest point in years since the coronavirus pandemic that began in China hit the United States hard. Trump and his administration have repeatedly accused Beijing of not being transparent about the outbreak.

Trump trumpusefulidiot a total embarrassment to the United States of America. AnyoneButTrump2020
Him and James Taylor(AltRight/White Nationalist) look like the same person. Both equally creepy asF
Such gross incompetence
The entire administration has no idea what they are doing or saying! They are like an adult version of Lord of the Flies - drunk on power and acting on basic impulses. When the adults come in to vote in November - how many will suddenly collapse in tears and embarrassment? Vote
Trump's hatchet man on trade, Navarro is a bad economist who is right on China but wrong on the rest of the world. I would not be surprised if last night's statement was either a Freudian slip or a trial balloon
See guys, what Navarro meant to say was “China trade deal over dim sum next time we get together.”
I wonder if Mr Navarro told anyone in the financial sector he was going to make a speech that may have repercussions ?
Just because he retracts his remarks, doesn’t change the facts!
'Just kidding, everybody!'
maybe fox tv made him feel so very comfortable.
