'What We Can Learn From Facebook’s Latest Outage' bugsnag facebook

Facebook iOS iOS SDK Shuts Down last evening after a change to the Facebook API caused major outages worldwide. Spotify, Pinterest, and TikTok were all down.

Crash was caused by a change in the format of an API response from Facebook. The data type of a particular property suddenly changed in the response from a dictionary to a bool, causing a crash. This meant that people’ applications were crashing ON BOOTs from application booting.
