When it comes to setting your thermostat and cooling your home during the summer, the minimum recommended temperature for energy efficiency is 78 degrees Fahrenheit, according to National Grid, an international energy company that services homes throughout the Northeast U.S.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Have you ever had a household debate about what temperature to keep your thermostat set at in the summer? If so, you’re far from alone.

When it comes to setting your thermostat, the minimum recommended temperature for energy efficiency is 78 degrees Fahrenheit, according to. While this temperature may surprise some, consider this: A room cooled just three degrees more to 75 degrees Fahrenheit costs 18% more than 78 degrees, National Grid says.

· Fans are the least expensive cooling equipment you can use. You can use window fans to blow cool air into your home when the humidity isn’t too high, or a ceiling fan can provide constant breezes in your home.
