Wisconsin's Johnny Davis worked out Tuesday for Pacers, trying to rise above NBA draft prospects AJ Griffin, Bennedict Mathurin and Shaedon Sharpe.

The most tantalizing thing about Davis — the biggest justification for taking him over more athletic choices like Mathurin, Sharpe and Daniels — is his improvement from age 19 to age 20. What will he look like at 21 or 22?and Duarte did that . He's a solid piece, but it’s hard to imagine Duarte getting a lot better. Here’s an example. Davis was asked Tuesday where he needs to improve.

Takes a strong man to admit weakness. No idea if he’s better than Mathurin or Sharpe — not interested in Daniels, a great athlete but a ball-dominant point guard who can’t shoot — but give me humility any day of the week. Humble people get better. Davis will get better. Is that enough to take him No. 6 overall? The Pacers have a chance, picking in single digits for the first timeto add a special talent to their roster.

“There’s a lot more,” he said. “I’m nowhere near where I want to be right now. I think I have a lot of upside, a lot of potential.” Of course he does, but then again, he seems to have a solid grasp of what he isn’t; maybe he knows what he is. I’d take him at his word, that we’ve not yet seen the best of Johnny Davis. Does that make him a better prospect at No. 6 than Shaedon Sharpe or Bennedict Mathurin?

Don’t ask me. Still trying to figure out those shoes on his feet. I’m thinking teal and turquoise, but I could be wrong.
