.irin's cousin survived the unimaginable. Here’s his advice for right now

Jacob Solome. Photo: Daniel Silbert/Daniel Silbert Photgraphy My cousin Jacob Solome, or Jack, will only tell me how old he is; for the purposes of this article, he says, “Put me down in the high 90s.” He met his wife, Eda, now 99 and suffering from dementia, when they spent two years hiding from the Nazis in a Polish farmhouse, crawling under floorboards whenever they heard anyone coming. They’ve been married for 75 years.

Irin: I want you to preach to me. You’re optimistic, and I wonder if it’s one of the qualities that helped you and Eda survive. Jack: Absolutely. This is my philosophy, and so far it has helped. Because I compare myself to other people who worry all the time, and always when you see them, they are telling you about their tsuris and their problems. Some people are optimistic, but some people are more pessimistic. I am in the first category. Really, that’s the nature of a person.

Irin: For me, being pregnant, I’m thinking about the future a lot. You’re also a gynecologist and obstetrician, so do you have any particular advice for me? Jack: Try to move. I have a stationary bicycle in an extra room, and I do it a few times a day, and you should do that. You don’t have to always — when you feel tired, you sit down. But you take your vitamins, you eat what you’re supposed to, and subject to the unforeseen, you’ll do great.Jack: I don’t know if you’re a believer, but you should pray. Pray that the coronavirus should disappear and then we’ll be the way we were. I have no choice. I have to stay alive. I have a function.

When Does Pornography Use Become Problematic?People's judgment that their porn use is a problem isn't based on how much time they spend watching or what they watch, but on this. I feel porn and sex addiction would only be more common for someone who has battled other addictions and is replacing one thing with another or when the finances are struggling due to subscriptions, escorts, breakdown of relationships.... there’s a feeling of ‘something to hide’. Our society brainwashed people making them believe nonsense. People can watch violent movies all day long and it is not an addiction. God is what you see him be (Psalm 18:25-26). I agree with society until they come to a public debate on existence and life on earth. I agree with this professor. If watching people making love is bad, watching them killing each other should be an abomination. Humans have just found a good reason not to walk on the ground of justice, love, and peace; and keep promoting violence, division, and hatred.
