articles are usually aimed at the harder core crowd, but that often makes me forget that not everyone has been playing the game consistently since the Alpha five years ago, and some things get lost in translation.
One of these things is Trials, something I talk about frequently, along with the community. Where is Trials? When is it coming back? DoYou may have some vague sense of Trials having something to do with PvP, or you might have a cursory knowledge of one of the two versions the game has seen, but at popular request, I thought I’d do a little bit of a primer on what Trials is, why people want it back, and why the game needs it.s House of Wolves expansion.
Trials is another level of challenge for PvP players, something the game does not have yet badly needs in order to keep this side of the playerbase engaged. Hundreds of thousands of people play PvP inevery day, yet 90% of every single content release is mostly based on the PvE side of the game. There’s no challenge for top PvP players, nothing to work for of any value.
Yes, it would be restrictive to the general playerbase, especially given that it will probably not be a matchmade activity, like the old versions before it. But that’s the same as raids and dungeons. And PvPmay never get. Unlike other seasonal offerings, this would presumably be something that is added to the game permanently. Bungie has more or less been working on the return of Trials ever since it left a year ago, and once it’s back, I’m guessing it’s there to stay. It’s not going to turninto an esport all of a sudden, and yet it will fill a badly needed gap for PvP players that has been missing fromeven when Trials of the Nine existed, because of its various problems.
