Today, it’s posting a hot selfie. Do you accept? Photo: @kerrywashington, @khloekardashian/Instagram According to most dictionaries and accepted linguistic norms, the word challenge indicates a difficult, complex task or situation to be conquered; a charged invitation to action; or a rejoinder to someone’s argument.
What is #WomenSupportingWomen? What does it mean? On Monday, a raft of celebs began posting well-lit photos of themselves, always in black-and-white and usually with a vaguely inspiring caption espousing the blanket virtues of women in general and maybe two to three women in particular. “To all my Queens,” Khloé Kardashian added. “Let’s spread love and remember to be a little kinder to one another.”
But, seriously, what does that mean? Per an Instagram spokesperson, this hashtag is “meant to celebrate strength, spread love, and remind all women that supporting each other is everything.” Go to the landing page for #WomenSupportingWomen and #ChallengeAccepted; scroll through the sexy sepia. Are you feeling strong, friend?
Brave? Why the f**k is it brave to post a selfie in today’s world of self-exposure?! And what the hell does it achieve for sisterhood?!! A lot of women do not need a “challenge” to raise & praise their sisters. These 72hr social media trends rarely promote true advocacy.
Lemmi ask...where will I get energy to post picture, while I don't have food on the for my babies!
Whys it gotta be linked to something higher just post a selfie and go 😔
WTF has this got to do with sisterhood?
We are degrading the words 'brave' or 'legend' these days with this kind of bullshitry
Just a reason to post a selfie; not true advocacy
Um it doesn’t have to be the most flattering
How is this contributing to anything except vanity...there are honour killings, legal rapes and an overwhelming rise in domestic abuse to conquer and instead we’re picking our best selfies in the name of supporting women...this is exactly what trivialises feminism
No 🧢
Dumb
Why?
Did a non black person start this challenge? Cuz I dont see how this supports me, or other black women. We need to support Black women, cuz we are what society believes is the least. If we flourish, everyone flourishes. Behavior like this is why I dont put much stock in 'allies'
Bravely?
'Bravely post' lmfao. Why on earth is posting a ChallengeAccepted selfie of yourself considered WomenSupportingWomen ? These girls def don't need any more selfie encouragement. Nope to this.
Bravery? Sisterhood? Is it a cult or what? I'm confused. Girls, sometimes we need to do better. This is not it
Posting a selfie is not brave in any respect, nor is it challenging. It is simply a form of self promotion that advances no legitimate cause and using black and white selfies is just another divisive stunt.
I get the feeling a horny 15 boy came up with this. Why do women keep allowing themselves to be played by these stupid trends.
How is this *checks notes* brave? Embarrassing.
Sooo brave of them
Just egotistical bullshit like always!!! These people spend everyday taking selfies and looking at themselves like the narcissist witches they are!!
ShAke it off
This is neither brave, nor a challenge. This is called seeking validation.
Oops, nobody told me it had to be a hot pic... I’m wearing a baseball cap and my dog looks stoned.
humans showing yet again how egomaniacal & attention seeking we can get 🙄

'Bravely post the most flattering' selfie? Is one of these words a typo?
So women supporting other women is a challenge to women, great work “queens”. Y’all give titles to anyone about anything.
Ugh. Enough!!
Except that’s not what it was at all but nice clickbait headline. Women are always an easy target, huh? Can’t let them encourage each other without calling it stupid or vain.
francaiskitty
It'd be brave to post your least-flattering pic. Where is the bravery? Not being snarky, but I don't understand the concept here. Is The Cut sure it's about being brave? Or is it just celebrating women?
I think.. this was sarcasm. 🤭😂
I don’t think anyone is forced to like it or look at it. I think for some women it made them happy to know that people were thinking about them or maybe they like thinking that they themselves are pretty. Neither is illegal. Stop policing women. This is how we stay stuck.
How is it 'brave' if it's a flattering picture?!?
This is silly.
Holy fucking stupid
Posting a selfie of yourself is supporting 'women?' Okie doki
This is idiocy. Can they focus on voting blue and protecting civil rights. They never miss an opportunity to stroke their own ego. So out of touch.
Nothing says narcissist like a selfie!
Most of these brave celebrities seem to be partaking in the most flattering AND over filtered black and white photos. Brave would be them posting a pic of themselves trying to figure out a vacuum cleaner while their housekeeper is home recovering (w/o pay) from Covid.
This is just dumb.
It must have been so, so hard.
what's 'normal person Instagram'?
I love myself, I think I'm grand, I go to the movies and hold my hand... 🎶 I wrap my arm around my waist and when I get fresh, I slap my face! 🎶
*bravely? What's so brave about it? And *camera rolls really cracked me up...I mean, how many use rolls nowadays? I may be dense, but how does this help sisterhood?
The world will never forget their sacrifice.
Narcissism as feminism... ok.
... bravely?
FilmTVDiversity
God celebrities are so lame
What kind of challenge is that
lolllll
Wtf is this shit? The thing on the right look like she injected a dough-boy pool in her lips.
If only they had accepted this challenge when Hillary ran for office 🤷♂️
Not pretty enough to participate. Bye.
I hate whatever this is
Honestly... There are urgent sisterhood things to tend to. Human trafficking, this slow civil war unfolding. What is the point of this? WomenSupportingWomen. Please explain
Reposted with ❤ challangeaccepted
For the majority of women, it’s not typical that they would be vulnerable enough to allow their beauty be seen. That alone should be enough.
Been eagerly awaiting this analysis
