Although Philadelphia’s rushing attack will be less effective without Hurts’ dual-threat abilities, Minshew can also lean on a high-octane run game that’s averaging the league’s fourth-best output of 158.6 yards per contest.will shoulder the workload in Hurts’ absence. The Eagles should still find success running the football behind their dominant offensive line.
Minshew appeared in four games with two starts for the Eagles in 2021. The former Washington State standout completed 68.3% of his passing attempts for 439 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Minshew secured a career-best 104.8 quarterback rating throughout an albeit small sample size. Last season’s showcase indicates Minshew is extremely comfortable operating Sirianni’s offensive system. Since then, Minshew has another year of experience in Philadelphia’s scheme under his belt, and the supporting cast has improved significantly. There’s no reason to believe Minshew isn’t going to look like a starting-caliber quarterback for the Eagles on Saturday.
It’s worth acknowledging that the Cowboys’ defense does pose a serious threat to Minshew’s potential success. Dallas’ stingy passing defense is allowing 191.6 passing yards per contest. They’re the third-ranked unit in that department. Only the Eagles themselves and Green Bay Packers are allowing fewer passing yards per contest. Minshew’s resume becomes even more impressive if he exposes Dallas’ passing defense on Saturday.
You’d be foolish to think Minshew can’t enter free agency with some momentum. He’s already one of the league’s most intriguing backup signal-callers. A strong showing throughout Philadelphia’s upcoming regular-season contests may see Minshew’s free-agency stock soar to the point where there will be multiple bidders for his services.
I bet he plays lights out. Wouldn't surprise me if Philly won still. Best back up in the league.
