Alabama will face Missouri for the fourth time in a week in today's SEC softball tournament quarterfinal in Gainesville.

Alabama will face Missouri for the fourth time in a week in Thursday's SEC tournament quarterfinal in Gainesville. The struggle was undeniable for Alabama’s softball team. Having lost four of its last five entering Game 2 of last weekend’s series against Missouri, the previously second-ranked Crimson Tide needed a spark.

Missouri shortstop Jenna Laird was asked about the Tigers’ mindset when facing Alabama again on the SEC Network after beating Auburn. “I think it kind of set the tone for everyone else,” coach Patrick Murphy said. “I always say when you get an opportunity, you have to be ready for it. All three of them were and that’s the coolest thing to me.”The Crimson Tide is No. 7 of 13 SEC teams in terms of batting average and dead last in hits with 375. The scoring component has Alabama 11th with 277 runs scored -- more than 100 fewer than league leader Georgia’s 382.

Alabama is No. 2 in the SEC with 29 sacrifice bunts as evidence it is trying to manufacture scoring situations while ranking 10th in the league in home runs with 49.
