Todd Burns answers questions on pressing financial topics, including the labor shortage issue and the increasingly competitive banking environment in Dallas-Fort Worth.

“I have to admit I was born out of state and deny it when people talk about it,” Burns joked. “I was born in Rochester, New York but my parents wanted to move to a much more evolving environment and get away from the cold so we moved to Plano in 1972.” He’s now 90 days into his most recent role as division executive of Wells Fargo commercial banking for North Texas and Oklahoma. Prior to joining the third largest bank in the U.S., he was at JPMorgan Chase & Co. for the last four years, most recently leading middle-market banking in North Texas.

show a really, really healthy employment environment for everyone. It’s not even a wage issue. Many companies have changed the wages they pay, even ourselves at Wells Fargo, and wages really aren’t moving the needle for most people who are in need of labor, especially skilled labor. So what it’s caused most companies to do is think about their business differently.
