He studied up on pre-1900 Christmas decorations and added more of the modern kind — Christmas trees, garland, lights and other décor — with help from longtime friend Sue Stringer, an Alabama floral designer who creates beautiful garland and swags for the display. They bought lights as far back as August and have been buying Christmas decorations since October for their home, a separate man cave, efficiency apartment and their golf cart, which will have its own decorations.
“I have some that are 10 to 15 years old. It’s fun when people come buy and pick up the cards, and they’ll say, ‘You have my card from eight years ago,’” Hudson said. “I don’t throw them away.”
