The Democratic proposal has two main components: up to a $25,000 pay increase for essential workers, and a one-time $15,000 incentive to help recruit new health care workers during the pandemic.
Military hazardous duty incentive pay is $150/month or $1,800 a year if in a hazardous duty area for the long. No one needs a $25,000 increase for this, no one.
You all realize that unemployed are currently receiving $2400 a month in addition to the replacement rate of their wages from state. Essentially they are making the same or more than us frontline employees, who are risking our lives. Not to mention unsafe staff to pt ratios.
Does this include the fast food industry?
What about those worker who are currently working at clinics and later they switch their jobs will the still be legible for Hazard pay?

Nah. Their employers can pay for that if they want. Tax payers should focus on people that were forced out of work by the government, not people still getting paid.
Would be great but senate repubs will never sign off on it. Giving in to this means democrats receive credit. Repubs will let society fall before allowing such a proposal.

Then the House of Rep should give the money they allotted for themselves in the previous stimulus package to the workers. Why do they need a raise when they’re not doing anything for the people?

As someone who works in healthcare, I don’t like this idea. We are still getting a paycheck. Millions of others aren’t. We are all in this together. I could, although, support compensating lost wages from HCP being out sick during this time.
Everyone declared an essential worker during this pandemic should get a living wage and full healthcare coverage. That would be a good start.
I've faced potentially deadly hazards at work since I became a nurse 20+ yrs ago: MRSA, VRE, hepatitis, HIV/Aids, & TB to name a few of the most common. For many of us, it comes w/the job. The $ should go to help those who've been traumatized emotionally, financially, physically
So, if we’ve been told by our employers that we must continue reporting for work, that makes us essential, right? Keep in mind there are millions of us not on “the front lines” still working and risking our health daily.
This is a great idea, but with this industry the most likely outcome will be doctors getting even more money, and nurses and clinical staff getting screwed.
The worst part of this idea—every deadbeat in in Chicago, Detroit and all of California with become essential without ever holding a job.

Trash drivers & loaders had best be included! Sanitation companies are telling their workers it’s not anymore dangerous than normal & won’t provide employees with PPE because the CDCgov hasn’t stated handling the trash with possible C19 contamination is dangerous!

My mom was essential & now she's sick. O'Reilly's Auto Parts refuses to give any employees raises right now, not even ones they are due. They are not properly cleaning facilities and were far too slow to adopt CDC protocols. Guilting & manipulating employees to continue working.
Hopefully this includes jail and prison staff.
