TURNER, Me. — Lexy Kerr walked into a bustling gun store 10 miles north of the city where a mass shooter took 18 lives and injured 13 this week, and declared, for the first time, that she wanted a gun.
“We’re seeing the fear,” Ayotte said. “It’s the reason people have used to finally do something they’ve been thinking of doing for a while.”, was not without protest. Ayotte said a person emailed the company to accuse him of taking advantage of a tragedy and promoting the same sort of weapons responsible for the deaths. Ayotte chose not to respond.
On Friday, a man who said he spends his days splitting firewood in the area’s sprawling forest told Maillet he came to buy a pistol after realizing there might be a mass killer in the woods with him.
