Coach Olivia Miranda had a big smile on her face after the North Region girls water polo tournament on Oct. 22 at Upper Arlington.
Last year was an entirely different story for Miranda, who was in tears after the Cardinals defeated the Wolves 8-6 in the third-place game to qualify for state while ending the Kilbourne's season. " are usually stressful for me, but I had a lot of people rooting me on,” said Delma, who scored four goals against Thomas in the opener. “There was Thomas in the warmup pool and all the parents, so I knew I was supported no matter what happened. Yeah, it was stressful, but I knew I had my people in the end.”
It was a strategy that paid off for the Golden Bears, who have won 19 state titles, including the last three. They jumped out to an 8-0 midway through the second quarter.Leah Oberle scored twice for the Cardinals against the Bears and had four goals against the Wolves.
