The bus consisted of men, women, and infants, according to video footage from a reporter with NBC who arrived outside of the residence Saturday morning. The bus was the third sent to the vice president by Gov. Greg Abbott this week and was meant as a retaliation to Harris's comment that America's border with Mexico was"secure." Minutes ago, a bus of migrants sent from Texas arrived outside the Naval Observatory in Washington DC. We’re told they’re from Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Two other buses containing 101 immigrants arrived Thursday as part of Abbott's efforts to send immigrants who crossed the southern border illegally to sanctuary cities as a record number of immigrants illegally enter the country. Since April, Texas has bused over 7,900 immigrants to Washington, D.C., and since Aug. 5, transported over 2,200 migrants to New York City as part of"Operation Lone Star," according to data from the Texas governor's office. Recently, Texas added Chicago to the mix and sent over 300 immigrants there.
“We have a secure border, and that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration. But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix, given the deterioration that happened over the last four years," Harris said.
