After years of construction and repairs, the Washington Monument in the nation's capital is reopening to the public

The Washington Monument, one of D.C.'s most iconic landmarks, reopens to visitors on September 19 after several years of construction and repairs.

However, like so many historic sites, the 555-foot-tall monument has needed TLC over the years. In 2011, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake centered in Virginia damaged the obelisk, causing some 150 cracks in the structure., the Washington Monument reopened, only to close again in 2016 after an elevator cable snapped. Fortunately, no one was inside the elevator at the time, but it meant that the monument needed an additional round of work.

For example, a temporary screening building constructed in 2001 has been replaced with a permanent structure.

Glad it’s trending because it’s reopening & not because spoiled, American hating fools want it removed, lol.

Barely a peep out of CNN about Trudeau's brownface & blackface today. But imagine if this had been pictures of Trump in High School...the freak-out would be constant. Your hypocrisy is showing.

We get free admission to the water park because of our jobs. *Picking up jaw off floor* Not only is it EXTREMELY rare for a woman to hold a construction management position but even more rare for construction operators / workers to take orders from someone younger than the years they have in the field so props to her. It can’t be easy!
