Washington Governor Jay Inslee announced he is running for president on a platform focused on tackling climate change, promising to make it his top priority for America.
The Democrat is the first sitting governor to enter the party's 2020 primary and enters a wide and diverse field of candidates. "I'm Jay Inslee and I'm running for president because I'm the only candidate who will make defeating climate change our nation's number one priority," he says in a campaign video revealing his intention to run for the White House.Inslee, 68, was elected governor in 2013 and previously sat in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the state legislature.
