Among the Warriors’ 2022 draft picks, the status of Patrick Baldwin Jr. remains the biggest mystery. Selected at No. 28 — the same spot the Warriors took Jordan Poole in 2019 — Baldwin is still rehabilitating an ankle injury that hampered his lone college season and had his draft stock plummet.
It isn’t certain if Baldwin’s ankle can recover in time to play at any point in July, but he expressed confidence in being able to play at his post-draft press conference on Friday. Both he and Ryan Rollins, the 44th pick, are expected to be on the Warriors’ regular season roster. Warriors fans can even get a glimpse at these players here in the Bay Area, as Golden State will host the California Classic on July 2 and 3. The Warriors will face the Kings at 4:30 p.m. on July 2 and the Lakers at the same time the next day. The Heat will also play against the Lakers and Kings, respectively, at 2 p.m. on those days.
When the Warriors head to Las Vegas, they’ll face the Knicks at 5 p.m. on July 8, the Spurs at 4:30 p.m. on July 10, the Celtics at 5 p.m. on July 12 and the Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on July 15. There will also be one additional game on either July 16 or July 17, which won’t be determined until after the first four games are completed.
Seth Cooper, the Warriors’ G-League head coach in Santa Cruz, will lead the two games in San Francisco. Warriors assistant and director of player development Jama Mahlalela will be the head coach for the games in Las Vegas.Player name — Position, age, height, weight, last teamPatrick Baldwin Jr.
