Elizabeth Warren is calling to end the legislative filibuster, the first major presidential candidate to explicitly endorse ending the Senate's longstanding 60-vote threshold.
The Massachusetts Democrat is set to make the announcement at the National Action Network on Friday, just two days after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell invoked the unilateral "nuclear option" to shave off debate time of presidential nominees. Now Warren says it's time to "fight back.""I’m not running for President just to talk about making real, structural change. I’m serious about getting it done.
She added: "That means when Democrats have the White House again, if Mitch McConnell tries to do what he did to President Obama, and puts small-minded partisanship ahead of solving the massive problems facing this country, then we should get rid of the filibuster." Warren had previously said that eliminating the filibuster should be on the table, helping drive a debate in the presidential race over whether to preserve the institutional brake for the Senate minority. But with Democrats like Warren talking about big ideas like the Green New Deal, Medicare for All and new tax plans, it's become more and more clear that a minority of GOP senators could stop them even if Democrats sweep the 2020 election.
AS THE DEMOCRATS GET READY TO ASCEND TO POWER IN THE SENATE , ENDING THE 60 VOTE FILIBUSTER WOULD BE A MAJOR ADVANTAGE FOR THE DEMOCRATS !
Tho' I can agree with doing away with the filibuster, I do prefer that all legislation meet a 60-vote threshold.
Now!!!! That is something every American feels strongly about. Jobs, getting rid of plastic, world class democracy and the filibuster
The end of bipartisanship? Why not aim instead for a return to sanity and pragmatism in America?
WHOAAAAAA, OOOH, OHohOH, OOOH... OOOOOOOH, OOOH, WHoaOH, OOOH... FlatearthAWATHA on war path; she speak with forked tongue.....

Favors tyranny of the majority
She can call all she wants. Nobody is answering.
Fraud!!
One of the rationales for the filibuster is that it forces the Senate to compromise to get things done when neither side has a supermajority. Obviously, in the age of McConnell, that isn't very relevant but McConnell won't be SenMajLdr forever. Without it, the Senate = House
Is she Harry Reid in disguise
Don't ask Harry Reid what he thinks. This could come back to bite.
I'm not convinced this is a good idea. Checks and balances are a good thing. They prevent a narrow and ideologically-driven majority from running wild.
Just a reminder .
