SYDNEY - New Zealander Dave Rennie has said it is unlikely he will take over as coach of Australia after this year’s Rugby World Cup because his contract with Glasgow Warriors runs until the middle of 2020.The former Waikato Chiefs coach was reported in the Sydney media to be on Rugby Australia’s list of possible replacements for Michael Cheika, who has said he would walk away from the job if he did not bring the World Cup home in November.
“It’s just a bit of speculation, as often happens when there’s a potential job up for grabs,” Rennie told Britain’s Daily Telegraph. “I knew that was probably going to be the case when I signed on for another season, so it’s just speculation.”
