VOTE: Which of these names for Utah's new NHL team do you like best?

The Smith Entertainment Group released a list of 20 names they’re considering for the Utah ’s new NHL franchise. KUTV held our own poll, and found a handful of names fans seem to prefer – and some that don’t have much support.

Social media responses have been strong since rumors started going public about the new team. Fans have been very vocal about their favorite names.The initial 20 names were released Wednesday. They were gathered from a survey Smith released April 8, asking, “If an NHL team were to come to Utah, what should we name it?”

That list of 20 names had a few themes to it. Utah’s nickname as the “Beehive State” has lead to different iterations of bee-themed teams in baseball – Stingers, Buzz, Bees – and a few of the hockey ideas fit in with that idea.Fitting in with the state’s place within the Wild West, the Outlaws was popular among several fans.The majority of names fit in with Utah’s reputation for winter weather, including Blast, Freeze, Frost, Powder, Canyons, Blizzard, Glaciers, Squall.

Names eliminated from our polls: Frost, Powder, HC , Caribou, Glaciers, Canyons, , Freeze, Squall, Ice, Blast, Hive, Venom. Eight names remain. We've mixed them up in the two poll questions below. Tell us which you like best! We'll pick the top four vote-getters, and post another poll closer to May 22, when the Utah hockey team survey ends.
