Mourners attend a memorial ceremony for Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his deputy and officials who died in the helicopter crash near Kyiv.Zelensky, family members and friends of the deceased meet to mourn the 14 people lost in the crash.Citizens pass a security checkpoint for the memorial ceremony.

Monastryrskyi had been in charge of police and emergency services tasked with responded to Russian strikes and de-mining, analyst Volodymyr Fesenko said, adding that senior officials often travel by helicopter at low altitudes during times of conflict. Following Monastryrskyi’s death, Ukraine appointed National Police Chief Ihor Klymenko as acting interior minister, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
