The Russian president defended the Sputnik V vaccine after an annual vaccine conference named Moderna's jab the best in the world.

likened the country's COVID-19 vaccine to a Kalashnikov assault rifle during a televised video conference on Thursday.

The Kalashnikov rifle, also known as an AK-47, was developed in the Soviet Union in the aftermath of World War II and remains one of the most widely used rifles around the world because of its reliability under harsh conditions, as well as its relatively low production costs. Russia President Vladimir Putin chairs a video meeting of the Pobeda organising committee at the Novo-Ogaryovo state residence outside Moscow on July 2, 2020. On Thursday, Putin said the Russian COVID vaccine was as"reliable as Kalashnikov assault rifle."Putin has been a vocal proponent of Sputnik V since it was authorized in Russia last summer. Unlike Moderna, the Russian vaccine is not an mRNA vaccine.

Well if the most beautiful man in Russia said so... 😄

Aren't those the ones with the floating firing pin that can cause them to go off accidentally?

SO IT ONLY WORKS WELL IN THE HANDS OF TERRORIST

That kind of marketing might actually win over some anti-vaxers from the far right....thinking GOP and NRA

What a heartwarming comparison. No wonder Donald loves him.

I bet one thousand dollars Putin got a Pfizer

Or poison.

As reliable as a Kalishnikov rifle with no barrel, trigger or rounds of ammo.
