FAIRFAX, Va. — A white state trooper who was seen on video telling a Black driver “you are going to get your a—whipped” and yanking him out of the car by his neck is no longer with the Virginia State Police, a spokeswoman said.that spokeswoman Corinne Geller said state police were prohibited from releasing additional detail about Charles Hewitt, the trooper seen in a viral video of a 2019 traffic stop.
The Virginia Attorney General’s Office confirmed a settlement, but did not offer any other comment. A working phone number could not be located for Hewitt. The video, which was filmed by Thompson with his cellphone, begins after Thompson, 29, of Woodbridge, was pulled over in Fairfax County for an expired inspection decal. It shows him sitting behind the wheel of his car claiming he was not a threat and that a request from him to get out of his vehicle was unlawful.
Hewitt tells Thompson he is being placed under arrest, looks into the camera and says, “Watch the show, folks.”

My experience working with law enforcement...MANY white officers have deep resentment and animosity towards black men (guilty and innocent) and their badge gives them the courage to act out their bitterness with violence, disguised as procedures or training.

It’s great to hear that we no longer tolerate this type of behavior from a police officer or from anyone in a position of authority. Hatred and bigotry must be confronted, and the consequences for this type of behavior must be severe. It will deter others from doing the same.
Now the state trooper will move to another state where he easily gets reinstated as a trooper and repeats the same tired racist shit until he gets caught again.
Just a reminder that this dude would 100% still have a job if the video was never released. The stop happened in 2019 and they’re just now firing the him. I encourage you to record each and every interaction you have w/ police and enable cloud storage.
