Covert Response Unit, undercover and uniformed officers were conducting surveillance of an aggravated robbery suspect in unmarked vehicles outside a home in the 2800 block of Ravina Street on March 4.Around 8:30 p.m., after conducting hours of surveillance, covert officers saw Raymond Mireles, 35, exiting his home and approach a red vehicle that stopped on the street near his home.
SAPD said officers approached from the north and south side of the street. A covert officer told a covert detective approaching from the south side of the street that Mireles had a weapon, according to Sgt. Washington Moscoso.“Let me see your f***ing hands. Let me see your hands,” an officer was heard saying before firing multiple rounds toward Mireles, who was seen holding a weapon and pointing toward officers in the video.
Bexar County Jail records show Mireles was previously charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful carry of a handgun, drug possession and assault. In February 2023, he was released from jail after serving a sentence for unauthorized use of a vehicle.Ivan Herrera has worked as a journalist in San Antonio since 2016.
