We are being careful to not put too much of a burden on taxpayers," Ingram saidRead MoreTwo other Democratic lawmakers -- including the head of the state's Senate Agriculture Committee -- and a state Republican lawmaker have co-sponsored the bill. The measure also seeks to assist schools that might not meet the federal criteria for providing universal meals.

Trump won't like that!

Love this idea.

What if the children don’t want to eat the schools launch

For many districts it’s cheaper to feed all students than keep track of USDA paperwork for a huge percentage of students.

Although this sounds like a compassionate plan it doesn’t work in the real world. I personally witnessed BMW’s drive up to the school breakfast program in Oakland, CA and parents with their kids (not all school age) ate the food and drove away. Fraud, waste, and abuse happens

This is good! If this passes, I hope many other states follow through.

No child in America should be deprived food.

Finally a decent news story... 👍🏼

If we can give Israel alone of $10 million of THE PEOPLES tax dollars EVERY DAMN DAY, do we really have to pass legislation to FEED CHILDREN? 🤦‍♂️

This is a great idea

To all those who complain about tax dollars ... I think feeding children should be priority over many wasteful “tax dollar projects” where the money goes straight into (b)(m)illonaires pockets.

😂😂😂 “Free” at point is distribution does not mean free. Someone pays for that food, which is all garbage food by the way. Kids should not be provided with Type II Diabetes causing food for “free”’from the gubiment.

Feed them kids.

I think free school meals should go to tha low-income students first before anyone else. Thatz just a friggin no brainer.

If we can pay billions for war, walls and golf trips, I think we could feed our kids in school. No, not a 'socialist', just someone with a different set of priorities.
