New Jersey will receive $33.6 million over several years.

Embattled electronic cigarette maker Juul has agreed to pay $438.5 million to regulators in 33 states, including $33.6 million to New Jersey, to resolve claims it deceived customers about the dangers and potency of their products and marketed to teens, authorities announced Tuesday., who are seeking to ban their products in the U.S. — also agreed to strictly limit its marketing practices under the agreement, according to a statement from New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin.

The state attorneys general say that over the course of a two-year inquiry, they found Juul became a name brand in the vaping industry by aggressively marketing its products to underage users. In New Jersey, people under the age of 21 are prohibited from buying e-cigarettes.
