This week, as in-person school resumes for the first time since the shooting, some Uvalde parents have chosen to homeschool their kids rather than send them back to the classroom:

Eloyd, 11, left, plays online video games with his brother Emmanuel, 12, right, at his home in Uvalde, Texas.

Yuri says those are some of the ways her son has changed since the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers in May. While Eloyd didn't attend Robb last year, he had gone there in previous years. Tina Quintanilla-Taylor, a parent and organizer leading the meeting, nods in agreement as Guerrero-Jaramillo speaks. Having known someone who was able to scale a newly-erected security fence at one local school, she is adamant that the school district has not done enough to inspire confidence in sending her children back to school.

Some of the private schools Tina is considering for her 6-year-old, Winston, won't offer the individualized services he needs – so she'd have to pay for them out of pocket. But her decision about how to school her 9-year-old daughter, Mehle, this year was more clear cut: By the end of August she had already started virtual classes through a homeschooling program.

When asked whether she wants to eventually return to school in-person, Mehle says she isn't sure. As for her friends, Mehle said,"I would tell them not to go to school. And to have online school, like me, a homeschool."

New bodycam footage obtained from Uvalde school shootingNew video from the Uvalde school shooting released to CBS 11 shows authorities at Robb Elementary School. This doesn’t appear new to me. Also, cbs news provides no context nor does the story include a link to make this video public. This is BAD REPORTING. BAD REPORTING, CBS/DFW. Unattributed, lacking context and NOT NEW VIEDO. You've been VERY SLOPPY HERE. You've also been easily fooled, which is quite disconcerting. WHO GAVE YOU THIS OLD VIDEO? The clips shown on CBS 11 DFW broadcast are from 2 different body cams, both of which have long been in public realm. Not sure what's going on here (story lacks any context, attribution) but this is sloppy reporting and CBS 11 has been given old video by WHOM? BAD REPORTING

Three months after the tragedy in Uvalde, this is how these families are copingThe Uvalde shooting has turned some parents into activists — and the work campaigning for assault rifle bans and new minimum age laws helps distract them from unthinkable grief. 'It's been difficult because we don't even want to get out of bed some days.' Lesson: never rely on others to protect the things you care about -especially the government.
