During the initial discussion before Monday’s vote, Lee enumerated several reasons for his opposition.
“When we asked about Judge Jackson’s judicial philosophy, when we asked her [and] when we asked others, we were told frequently that we should look at her record,” Lee said. “So we looked at her record. We’ve got a lot of things in her record that we found concerning.” He pointed to Jackson’s sentencing in child pornography cases, as well as her involvement in the casesThese cases haven’t gotten as much attention as some of her other rulings, as some of her sentencing decisions, but they’re very, very significant,” he said. “They’re deeply troubling to me.
They told us to look at judicial philosophy, but Judge Jackson said she doesn’t have one. They leaned on her record, but what we have of her record is troubling. They said to look at her answers, but she didn't answer basic questions & endorsed judicial activism. I will vote no.

Sen. Lee is dissatisfied with Judge Jackson’s refusal to define what a woman is. Well Sen. Lee, what is a man? We know one thing, you certainly aren’t one.
He disagrees with her interpretation that the Constitution protects a woman’s right to contraception, mix-race marriage, gay marriage, voter suppression. He wants state legislatures to be able to discriminate on the basis of sex, race and sexual orientation.
