BREAKING: Utah Dept. of Health temporarily halting use of rapid COVID-19 tests at state-operated sites after inconsistent results

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health will temporarily pause the use of rapid antigen tests at state-operated COVID-19 testing sites starting Monday. The department announced the freeze Sunday, but said these sites will offer at-home tests for"anyone who receives a PCR test but may also want to receive results faster."

"Among people who tested positive by PCR, more than half of them tested negative by GenBody rapid antigen test; this was true even for people who reported COVID-like symptoms," the department wrote in a press release."While rapid antigen tests are known to be less likely to identify a positive individual, the difference identified in this analysis was higher than expected," the health department's statement continued.

“Within the past few weeks, UDOH mobile test teams began using the GenBody rapid antigen test. These teams reported a trend of higher-than-expected negative results from this specific rapid antigen test. This prompted our analysis across a broader timeline and the results motivated our decision to temporarily pause the use of this test” said Dr. Leisha Nolen, UDOH state epidemiologist. “This step is necessary to ensure people receive accurate test results.

The health department says there is a nationwide shortage of BinaxNow tests and the state's access to these tests is limited. But they say rapid antigen tests may become available at state sites when the supply chain"stabilizes."

Why are people still testing You test positive you just go home w no guidance. If you’re sick regardless of what it is, stay home and get on these supplements (should be on now anyway to boost immunity). And contact a doc online if you get worse. Covid19critcalcare dot com.

No shit. Covid has been nothing but a huge waste of money and false statistics. I’ve been saying that for almost 2 full years now

50% or more of all covid tests are wrong because they can't determine the difference between covid, the flu or strep

Maybe it's because some of the techs are phoning it in. Was tested a couple weeks ago and tech said 'ok, I'll swab each nostril for 15 seconds.' She then proceeded to count quickly to 15 in about 4 seconds. Same thing other side. Same thing with my daughter's test.

Governor Cox isn’t a doctor but told he public to stop testing. Hospitals are making bank for every single thing they can pull off where this illness is concerned. Right/ Wrong? They’re getting paid!

Back of the home test box says this. Seems like a waste of a lot of money.

'Among people who tested positive by PCR, more than half of them tested negative by GenBody rapid antigen test; this was true even for people who reported COVID-like symptoms,' the department wrote in a press release.

SpencerJCox UTLEGtracker. Just another way to bring those numbers down right? First don't get tested (but we will) now, oh there incontinent. Good luck everyone, if you getbit go hug you representative.

People who get tested.. Butimighthaveit

This is why the publics trust surrounding this pandemic has faded.

Inconsistent? GovCox what’s happening CDCDirector NIH

So are they going to extend the time you're required to get a test and results before a flight?

The home ones aren't any better
