The United States Postal Service has suspended its services for one block of residents in a Santa Monica neighborhood, after several reported assaults took place on carriers delivering mail in the area.
Residents in the area were delivered notices from USPS, disclosing that"delivery service is hereby suspended to all addresses located on the 13-hundred block of 14th street." CBS reporters reached out to Santa Monica police, where they learned that only one assault has been officially reported, and even then the victim declined to have the case prosecuted.
Best SOLUTION: organize your neighborhood and have a GROUP OF NEIGHBORS walk the trucks on their rounds. If it's a bad neighborhood, maybe you quietly apply for a carry permit or keep a baseball bat (and glove!). If you have a glove you're only searching for a game to join!
One block? Police cannot handle that? Postal Workers carry mace to protect against animal attacks, use it against the human animal attack. Neighborhood residents form a watch group, proactive in the prevention of crime. If attacker is mentally unstable report it for help.
that’s pretty smart. It means the asshole with the broom stick has to go into the post office to pick up his mail.
Lmao GavinNewsom
What kind of attacks? Dogs?
Neighbors gotta take care of this.
Where is the police....or therapist
santamonicacity SantaMonicaPD suehimmelrich latimes Santa Monica leadership: what’s going on? You’re failing. The crime, homelessness & quality of life in SM has deteriorated SIGNIFICANTLY- you need to get together and make some massive changes to course correct- Bold action!
USPS should have been privatized a long time ago. A unionized bureaucracy is a corrupt, incompetent and inefficient bureaucracy.
That’s because you have a literal psychopath in charge of California! Not rocket science people. WAKE UP LIBS! Your gov’t wants anarchy. Yes this includes Biden too.
Instead of ramping patrols, taxpayers now don’t receive mail. Sounds about right for California management.
MikeBoninLA solution? ‘Let’s buy this poor gentleman a nice new apartment. Perhaps with an ocean view?’ Don’t buy into Bonin’s bullshit. darkmoneybonin
If a known individual has assaulted a postal worker but the worker chose not to press charges, and now mail can’t be delivered, shouldn’t the USPS or other federal agency be pressing charges on behalf of the individual?
Happens more frequently here too, carriers are forced to hand of their keys. Also a neighbor reported a carriers truck was broken into. Like the post office doesn't have a enough problems hiring carriers as it is. Mail carrier here says new hires often quit right away.
Good work people are nuts please keep those nuts there don’t let then travel
So there’s an anti-postite on the loose.
My goodness society is f..ked.
Such a crime ridden city!
That'll fix the problem. 🤦♀️
They have their own police force. Why not just have them follow the mail carriers for protection? That’s a solution
What are we coming down to This is ridiculous!! Post pandemic behavior making people do stupid stuff
Time to attack the people that are attacking the carriers.
