The government used to give them away in chicago like they were government cheese
the military need to do a better job
Military guns missing? [ Staff sergeant turning the other way, so guns ‘get missing’! This is child’s play with fatalities! ( Inside job; insiders knowledge?]
So we spend trillions in military expenses instead of feeding, healing, and educating our people, just for them to have more artillery than they can keep track of? Cool.
300,000 to 600,000 firearms are stolen per year. As high as 1600 a day. That’s responsible gun ownership?
rolandsmartin SecDef that’s insane
Put trackers on them.
Defund whatever the fuck this is.
At least these firearms didn't end up with Mexican cartels or U.S funded terrorists in Syria who got other weapons from U.S.
Give them another trillion dollars and maybe they can figure it out.
But let’s keep increasing their budgets.
Very normal
How the fuck do they not know a weapon is missing?!?! They don’t do monthly audits
What an absolute brilliant article. This is masterful journalism.
Can we all look into the 1033 program, and how this may tie to this?
This is the same military that accidentally dropped a nuke on North Carolina and decided they should just cover it with cement. Also the same that erroneously sent another on a cargo load to SE Asia, I don’t recollect the country. Also the same that was alerting...
SharonCarbine Or derverted and sold
And most weapons in Mexico and other south/central American countries came from the U.S.
I'm thinking you can probably find a lot of these stolen weapons, especially the more specutacular ones like grenade launchers and heavy machine guns, in the stockpiles of far right 'militias'.
IwriteOK What ever happened to the missing explosives in San Diego?
We proudly looking at big picture of warfare. But overlook small matter of personal firearms 🤔🤓
The US military 'inventory' system of *anything* (not just firearms) is the most chaotic disaster you could ever possibly imagine
It may look the supply corps is worthless, but really, this is a clever strategy to use military weapons to arm both the cops and the robbers. Everyone wins, right?
GunViolence Question: Can bullet casing end be made uniquely keyed to a gun hammer? Often casings are left at scene of crime. Thinking end of bullet be like a lug nut lock, must match pattern on hammer to get to primer. So bullets must be made for a gun.
How that is possible is fucking nuts
Sounds like a bureaucracy working as intended.
MikePerryavatar Why would this be a surprise - the U.S. defense industry is already the world's largest arms dealer.
When I was in if a weapon went missing the whole base went into lock down. It has to be officers changing the numbers in the inventory.
that surprises you?
_Politics How is that even possible😡😡
Happens all over. Remembering that time the Australian Defence Force lost a heap of 66mm (rocket launchers)
How is every single weapon in the military not accounted for?.....
_Politics FYI: Most enlisted personnel are not issued a sidearm (pistol.) Which narrows possible suspects to armory personnel (military and civilian.)
That vast majority of businesses (yes, the military is a business) take inventory at least annually if not quarterly. Our military doesn’t do this? That’s ludicrous! They don’t audit their books either. No wonder they cost so much.
This is news? US civilians already own more guns than the Army. As long as they keep a tight reign on RPG’s, 81mm mortars & heavier artillery, then gun deaths might stay around the~8,000 each year the NRA finds ‘acceptable’.

hmmm…
Hard to believe having this stupid evil empire has negative unintended consequences.
Lmao, you mean the military is so rotten people are stealing weapons and nobody cares enough to stop them?
Oh, cool. Good thing America doesn't already have a gun problem.
That looks like a black person holding that gun. What are you trying to say?
