There have been 626 cases of measles reported in the United States this year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That's 71 more than the agency reported last week.

There have been 626 cases of measles reported in the United States this year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That's 71 more than the agency reported last week in its weekly update.

Just four months into the year, the number of cases is only 42 away from surpassing the record of 667 cases in 2014, the highest number since the illness was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000."In the coming weeks, 2019 confirmed case numbers will likely surpass 2014 levels," the agency said on its website Monday. Iowa and Tennessee reported cases for the first time this week, bringing the total number of states reporting measles this year to 22.

A source familiar with the measles situation in the US told CNN that of the 626 cases of measles in 2019, 72% are unvaccinated, and 18% have an unknown vaccination status. Among those who are unvaccinated, it may be because of personal beliefs and medical reasons. The other 10% were vaccinated with either one or two doses. Of the 626 cases, 487 are in people 19 and younger. Measles is endemic in many countries other than the United States.

drsanjaygupta When there's a disease increase or introduction of foreign diseases (zika) does anyone at least for a moment think its possible it's a biological warfare assessment by those who might wish to harm us? Al-Quaeda certainly had the notes and knowledge to do so.

drsanjaygupta Measles is a virus not a disease and no one in the 60’s or 70’s who actually had measles is concerned because WE are all immuned unlike all of the vaccinated folks who are actually at risk. Luv u guys but Stop the fear mongering

drsanjaygupta More diseases to come ☹️

drsanjaygupta It's a virus. Runs it's course like a cold. Not a big deal. needs to get over it already.

drsanjaygupta How does it disappear then all of a sudden comeback? Maybe letting people into the country who are unvaccinated?

drsanjaygupta Wait, What? A news story that doesn't blame realDonaldTrump Wow, it might be the beginning of a thing

drsanjaygupta Don’t want to vaccinate your children? Then don’t have them.

drsanjaygupta Shout out to all the paid-by-russia trolls and anti-vaxers and those fooled by them. Vaccine don't cause autism; they do prevent measles.

drsanjaygupta Mangy Migrant scum is the cause of this outbreak

drsanjaygupta People need to stop believing some ppl's opinions of vaccinations and look to history to see we have be able to prevent outbreaks with vaccinations. We used to have ppl dying in large numbers until vaccinations. Be smart... Vaccinate!

drsanjaygupta Thank you very much you moronic antivaxers ya know we have all these nice islands in the Pacific why don't we take them and the homeless and give them a nice infrastructure and let them live they're lives out there it would be cheaper then having 2 deal with the fallout here.
