The University of Phoenix's settlement with the FTC requires the for-profit college to cancel $141 million in student debt owed to the school

The for-profit university will pay $50 million in cash and cancel $141 million in debts owed to the school by students who were affected by the misleading advertisements, the FTC said Tuesday. The settlement won’t affect student borrowers’ obligations for federal or private loans.
