Universal cancels controversial film 'Hunt' in wake of shootings

Universal Pictures has canceled the planned September release of its controversial social satire"The Hunt," in the wake of recent mass shootings and amid criticism from President Donald Trump.

In a statement Saturday, Universal said it had decided to take the further step of canceling the film's Sept. 27 release, saying"We understand that now is not the right time to release this film." Trump criticized the planned movie on Twitter Friday, without mentioning its name, saying it was intended"to inflame and cause chaos."

Asked if the decision to scrap the release had been impacted by Trump's comments, a person familiar with the decision process, speaking on condition of anonymity to describe internal deliberations, said the cancellation had been under discussion by the studio and filmmaking team well before the comments were made.

Will it come out in the future

Maybe it’s not because of criticism from Trump maybe it was just a stupid movie to produce, they are the same people blaming trump when there is a massacre of Americans and then they put out a movie about killing Americans, the countries gone mad!!

Makes sense. Only a billionaire would have difficulty distinguishing fantasy from reality.

So Universal are giving into Republican talking points that Movies video games crates terrorists? This is outrageous.

I wonder how many people will live out the 'satire ' with open borders?

Well, what for? The same people produced The Purge. It's hardly as if movies are canceled every time there's an incident, so they must have just felt they stepped into a smelly pile of bad PR here.
