After the College Board said Florida’s criticism of its AP African American studies courseDeSantis suggested Tuesday that his state might drop AP classes from its schools. Instead, DeSantis said, schools could expand alternatives, such as the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge Assessment programs, which, like AP, permit students to earn college credit by passing an exam.
“AP classes have become an avenue for American students to get a head start to college,” Weingarten said. “The alternatives floated by DeSantis — the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge Assessment — don’t provide the same breadth of course offerings and are not widely accepted by other colleges and universities.”
Her daughter’s AP prowess saved the family “enormous amounts of money,” Hamilton said, partly because she earned college credit and partly because the girl’s rigorous AP schedule helped her win a full scholarship to Florida State University. Hamilton predicted that the elimination of AP offerings would cause parents statewide to lose out on thousands of dollars in college savings.

What a load of crap. AP are not approved at every school due to final test requirements and school choice. Floridas Dual enrollments are. Both my kids graduated from Florida High Schools. The APs were not all accepted.
It's just not fair to the students and their families.

AP classes save students money if they do well on them and can be accepted by other schools. The other options are for the half college type program running in high schools where they attend college while completing their HS diploma. Both are good programs that save parents money
